3 Men Fell Through The Ice While Riding Snowmachines In Alaska

Three men in Alaska fell through the ice in Alaska while riding snowmachines. Although it's been two days since, one of the men still remains missing. The tragic incident happened at Lockhart Point in Alaska on November 1.

In a press release from the Alaska Department of Public Safety, authorities confirmed they responded to calls early on November 1. Three men had been riding two snowmachines and a 4-wheeler when they went through the ice. The three had been friends and were out enjoying the snow. Authorities deployed multiple EMTs to the location to provide help.

Volunteers also lent their hands in assisting the men. However, the third man is still missing in Alaska. At this time, they've not released the identities of those involved in the tragedy. After the man's disappearance, search and rescue teams formed to search for him. But so far, they've been unsuccessful. The Northwest Arctic Borough Search and Rescue and Kotzebue Fire Department continue to look for him.

The Northwest Arctic Borough also issued a warning about the ice in the area. It begs people to stay away from the ice unless they're searching for the missing man. Conditions are dangerous and the last thing Alaska needs is another tragedy in the region.

"KOTZEBUE: PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT TO THE ICE UNLESS YOU ARE COORDINATING WITH SEARCH AND RESCUE - THE ICE IS NOT SAFE," the organization wrote on Facebook. "PLEASE KEEP OUR SEARCHERS SAFE BY COORDINATING THROUGH SEARCH AND RESCUE."

The tragedy comes just several months after a 32-year-old man named Skye Rench died in Alaska. Authorities found the man floating in the Alaska's Susitna River back in May. His story shares some startling similarities with what happened this month. He had been traveling on an ATV when the vehicle broke through the ice back in March. His remains weren't found for several months. Meanwhile, Sean Kendall, who was among the group, still has never been found.
