70-Year-Old Man Dead, 3 Others Injured After Helicopter Crashes Into Field

A 70-year-old man has tragically died after a helicopter crashed into a field in England. Additionally, three people also suffered injuries as well. The incident happened in Bentley, Doncaster, on October 30.

According to the South Yorkshire Police, the helicopter crashed late Thursday morning. First responders pronounced a 70-year-old man dead at the scene after he suffered significant injuries. They're not releasing his identity at this time. Meanwhile, the pilot as well as a 10-year-old boy and 58-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries as well.

According to officials, the helicopter crashed after taking off from Retford Gamston Airport. "We can confirm an aircraft based here, operated by an onsite tenant, has been involved in an incident," a spokesperson for the airport said. "We've no further information at this time."
Curtis Borkowski, who witnessed the helicopter, said that it made a strange noise about 10 minutes prior as it was flying overhead.

"As it flew over Doncaster, the engine sounded really bad," he said.

Deadly Helicopter Crash

The situation could have been much worse. Local Lee Needham said the helicopter crashed near an area that had multiple houses.

"Whoever was piloting the helicopter more than likely saved numerous lives," Needham said.

Meanwhile, investigators are looking into the cause of the crash. Police Det. Insp. Matt Bolger is asking any eye-witnesses to assist the authorities in their investigation.

"We are particularly keen to hear from those with footage of the helicopter leading up to the crash," Bolger said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died in this tragic incident."

Meanwhile, several government officials spoke out about the deadly helicopter crash. Local representative Rebecca Booth called it shocking.

"It's a lovely, thriving community and everyone sticks together," she said. "Things like this will have an impact on people."

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Ed Miliband also mourned the loss.

"My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim of this terrible incident," he wrote. "My office are in touch with the relevant authorities including South Yorkshire Police, and I know the whole of Doncaster will be united in having the victim in their thoughts today."
