An Alabama man is very lucky to be alive, and it's all thanks to the quick actions of his girlfriend. He was struck by lightning while out on Logan Martin Lake with his partner on June 29.
The two had bought the boat together and was enjoying the summer when a storm cloud rolled in. Lightning struck through Craig Morris's right shoulder, exiting his foot. He collapsed on the boat. That's when his girlfriend Emma Howard sprang into action. Despite the fact the boat was literally on fire, she worked to save his life.
Speaking with Rick Karle Good News, Morris's mother Amanda Christopher explained how Emma saved her son's life after the lightning strike.
She said, "The story at that time focused primarily on the fact that it was the maiden voyage of the boat that he had worked so hard to restore, only to burn to the bottom of the lake. While that was certainly heartbreaking for him, his life was spared that day by the grace of God."
Miracle After Lightning Strike
Amanda explained that Emma was also struck by lightning.
"The part of the story and the biggest blessing of all that I want to share with you today is regarding his girlfriend, Emma. In the wake of shock and chaos of the event she managed to remain calm and take action.Keep in mind, while Craig was hit directly, Emma and the others on the boat were impacted indirectly by the lightning through the boat and the blast of sound when it struck."
His mother continued, "Despite all of that, when she saw Craig laying on the floor of the boat, purple from the chest up, with his eyes fixed as if he was already gone, she immediately began CPR with the boat on fire. She did everything she could to save him in a situation where she was still in danger herself."
Thanks to her quick actions, Craig survived his lightning strike. The event brought the couple closer together than ever. Fast forward a few months, and the two are now engaged. His mom explained, "This past weekend Craig asked Emma to spend the rest of her life with him, and she said, 'yes'."
