3 People Swept Into The Ocean At A Popular California Beach, Second Time In Weeks

Three people were swept into the ocean at a popular California beach. One of them remains missing several days later in what can only be described as a tragedy.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 22. Two women and a man had been visiting Soberanes Point in the Garrapata State Park. That's when they had been "swept off the rocks into the ocean." The Monterey County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said in a news release that they responded to the call.

According to authorities, the two women managed to make it back to shore. First responders transported them to a local hospital be treated. But the unidentified man remains missing. Authorities launched a search operation for the missing man at the popular California park.

"A large-scale multi-agency response was initiated that included California State Parks, CalFire, CHP, Monterey County Sheriff's Search and Rescue and the US Coast Guard, which provided assistance with a helicopter and ocean vessel," police said.

Missing At California Beach

According to police, this comes just a week after a similar incident at the California beach. They wrote, "This incident comes just a week after a 39-year-old father and his 7-year-old daughter, visiting from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, were swept into the ocean by 15-to-20-foot waves, at the same park. Both died as a result of this incident."

Due to the string of tragedies, officials are reminding visitors to stay safe.
They wrote, "We remind everyone that there is a current beach hazards warning in our area. The public is asked to stay off rocks and back from the waters edge. Ocean waves are unpredictable and pose a safety hazard to the public."
