An influencer and his wife have tragically died after being caught in an avalanche while skiing on Monday. Authorities confirmed the deaths of 55-year-old Spanish influencer Jorge García-Dihinx and his wife, Natalia Román.
The two had been skiing in the Pyrenees mountains, which border Spain and France. García-Dihinx was an online influencer and also a pediatrician as well. He had more than 375,000 followers on Instagram. The influencer regularly shared health advice with his followers. He was also very fond of skiing. In fact, he ran his own blog La Meteo Que Viene. That blog would help skiers by providing weather conditions for locations throughout Spain.
Sadly, his passion for the sport ended up costing him his life. The influencer and his wife had been skiing on December 29. That's when a slab of ice triggered an avalanche in the mountain range. Dozens of feet of snow began a rapid decline down the mountain. García-Dihinx, Román, and Eneko Arrastua were caught in the avalanche.
Influencer Killed IN Avalanche
Sadly, all three of them died despite being expert skiers. Meanwhile, a fourth woman suffered hypothermia and ended up in the ER. Two others caught in the avalanche managed to escape without injury. The influencer was well aware of the risks of his hobby. Chillingly, in an Instagram post on Dec. 15, he addressed fans' concerns about the sport.
"We go to the mountains for moments like these," he responded. "At 3,000 meters, while the modern world remains below, up there, you're only focused on the next step — these are moments of absolute attention to the present moment."
"I can't and I don't want to believe it. Thank you for so much," wrote one.
"We are completely in shock. He's gone be a great one. Keep spreading from heaven. R.I.P ???" another shared.
Yet another wrote, "RIP ? a great doctor leaving us.. person of light"
