Cause Of Death Revealed For Animal Handler That Worked With Joe Exotic

A cause of death has been revealed for an animal handler who previously worked with Tiger King star Joe Exotic. A tiger attacked and killed the animal handler back in September.

Now, authorities have completed an autopsy of the animal handler. According to the Chief Medical Examiner in Tulsa, Ryan Easley died from a combination of blunt force, sharp force, and crushing injuries. They found his death to be accidental.

Easley had been working at the Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in Hugo, Oklahoma. On September 20, a tiger attacked and killed the animal handler. In a statement, the wildlife refuge mourned the loss. "It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the tragic loss of Ryan Easley, who lost his life in an accident involving a tiger under his care at the Growler Pines Tiger Preserve," the preserve said.

The animal handler had been performing with the tiger. That's when the animal attacked him.

"This tragedy is a painful reminder of both the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world. Ryan understood those risks- not out of recklessness but out of love," Growler Pines Tiger Preserve added in their statement. "The animals under his care were not just animals to him, but beings he formed a connection with — one rooted in respect, daily care, and love."

The Growler Pines Tiger Preserve mourned the loss of the animal handler.

"Growler Pines was more than just a place of work for Ryan, it was his calling, his passion and his life's purpose," the preserve added. "His courage, compassion and unwavering commitment to wildlife will never be forgotten."

Following his passing, his family created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with expenses.

"Ryan's impact cannot be overstated," the organizer wrote. "His dedication, his sacrifice, and his love for his work were unmatched. Anyone who met him could feel his passion — not only for the animals and his work —but even more so for his family. His love for Elaine and Lily shone above all else."
