As an avid Disney lover, I understand that the main issue people have with the parks is the price. Visiting Disney World is no cheap feat. From the park tickets to food and drink, Mickey is going to shake you down for every penny that you have. However, for some, the magic is worth it. If you are one of those individuals who says "no way!" to the most magical place on earth because of the price tag, this article may help you out. Disney-goers are now sharing their money-saving hack, and honestly, I have mixed feelings about it.
What Is This Disney Money-Saving Hack?

This money-saving hack is really quite simple. It goes back to that phrase we all heard in kindergarten, "sharing is caring." That's right, not only are these Disney fans sharing their tips, they are also sharing their belongings. The NY Post shares that parents have created "Buy Nothing" groups on Facebook. These groups basically encourage families traveling to Disney not to spend money on small things. These are the items that could enhance the experience but aren't necessary.
Instead of spending a fortune on it at Disney World, just hop onto one of these groups. There, you can find and grab items for free or super cheaply. The NY Post shares the following about the groups. "The premise is simple: families share and pass along items that might otherwise go unused, fostering a community built on frugality and kindness." Sounds like a good deal, right? So why do I have mixed feelings about it?
What Are The Items Being Shared?
While I love a good money-saving opportunity, what has me in a pickle here is some of the items being shared. I am fully in support of the various items being donated or sold cheaply in these groups. Items such as unused rain ponchos, lanyards, and bags. However, some of the items that give me the ick were Mickey ears, reusable water bottles, and popcorn buckets. Don't get me wrong, I understand the premise of the money-saving hack.
I once got caught in the rain at Disney and had to spend nearly $30 for a rain poncho. So, trust me, I understand. Yet the idea of drinking from a water bottle someone else has used freaks me out. Maybe I am too anxious about germs, but relying on other people to properly disinfect their belongings before sharing them just doesn't sit right with me. The same goes for the popcorn bucket; you just know they were licking their fingers between each bite and then dive bombing their hand back in, around, and all over that container. Do you really want to eat out of that?
Don't even get me started on the Mickey ears. Yes, it will save you a lot of money, but my fifth-grade nurse's voice is in my head, warning me about lice and never trying on other people's headwear. The good news is that all of these items are optional. So, should you choose to participate in this Disney money-saving hack, you can pick and choose which items you are comfortable using.
