Wildlife photographer Charvet Drucker was in the right place at the right time. Specifically, that right place was in a boat off Camano Island in Washington. It was in that location that the photographer witnessed something epic. She saw a seal narrowly escaping a pod of killer whales. She witnessed this when she got an up-close view of the seal jumping onto her boat and out of the dangerous waters.

Drucker was on a whale-watching journey in the waters near Washington when she experienced this incredible encounter. Not only did she see the whales she was hoping for, but she also got an up-close encounter with a seal. She recorded the encounter and shared it in a multi-part video series. In part one, you can see the killer whales off in the distance, then suddenly, directly next to her vessel, a small seal appears.
It dashes under her boat to flee the whales, sending a pleading look up to the photographer. Then, it quickly submerges under the water again, only to reappear on top of the back of the boat. Later, in the third part of the video montage, the orcas get surprisingly close to the vessel, clearly frustrated that their meal had found a way to escape.
The seal, however, was very grateful. As the seal was escaping the whales, he managed to wedge himself in between some poles on the boat, securing his position. Luckily, Drucker had kindness in her heart, and she kept her vessel still until the whales finally moved on. The seal gets to live another day.
The Internet Reacts
The internet was just as amazed as Drucker was at the seal escaping the whale. Many people expressed their gratitude to Drucker for assisting the seal with its escape. Here are some of the comments left under some of her videos.
"Thank you for staying where you were to save the little seal ??????."
"That was so cool yet scary as the Orcas could've been way aggressive to get to the seal. That sweet face you captured on the seal like saying "thank you for saving me!" So sweet! Very cool experience! Glad it all without! ???."
"Oh my goodness that face. Thank you for being there."
