Paddleboarding Witches Over Take New Jersey Lake In Viral Video

Someone better call the Sanderson sisters because witches have overtaken a New Jersey lake. Instead of brooms, these cackling gals are using paddleboards to surf the water.

The spooky event is called Witch Paddle, and it took place on October 11 in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Around 150 to 200 people gathered, dressed as witches, for the event. Among them was Kate Watt, who spoke with People about the event. She said it was a great way to get in the Halloween spirit and enjoy some sunshine and water before winter.

"Everyone was smiling and happy to see their friends or family out on the water," she told the outlet. "It was a cool fall morning with the sun peeking out — the perfect vibe for Halloween."

Watt didn't get on a board herself, but she did take plenty of pictures of witches. "I was so happy to see everyone dressed up in the most spectacular costumes," she says. "It was incredible to see such an amazing turnout. My mom and I were having the best time seeing everyone out on the water."

Overall, she said that she loved seeing all the witches and Halloween characters.

"I saw so many amazing costumes, everyone really went all out! I personally loved the first woman in my video, she was fully in character, even making a witch laugh, her costume was perfect!" she also said.

Witch Paddle has become an annual event with everyone doing their best cackles and donning pointy hats. There are prizes for "Best Costume" and "Most Spirited Witch." Funds raised from the event go to the Live Like Maddie Foundation, which raises money for children with rare diseases.
