Police in England received multiple calls about a poor, abandoned dog. Many of the callers claimed to have seen the dog left alone and tied up to a pole. Naturally, officers responded to the calls of these good citizens. After all, who wouldn't want to help a dog in need? However, upon arriving at the scene, officers were surprised at what they found.

I don't know whether I should be proud or roll my eyes at this. Part of me has had my faith restored in humanity. I love that so many people thought they saw an animal in need and acted promptly in an effort to assist it. That is the kind of action that warms my heart. However, the other half of me finds it bizarre that people make assumptions without clarifying or getting a closer look. I say this because the reports of this abandoned dog turned out to be false - it wasn't a dog at all. Instead, when officers arrived at the scene, they found a toy reindeer. That's right, folks, it wasn't some poor bully-type dog; it was Sven from the film Frozen. Matlock, Cromford, Wirksworth, and Darley Dale Police SNT shared an update about the ordeal in a Facebook post.
"Abandoned 'Dog' Update," the post began. From there, the officers shared that they had received multiple calls about a "small, bully type dog, that was tied near the junction" of Slack Hill along Chesterfield Road. After arriving at the scene, officers found no such dog. However, they did find "one of Santa's reindeer resting after a test flight over the Dales area." The post continued in its joking manner as the officers wrote, " after being given some stern words about being seen in the middle of November, Officers left the fella to his break."
