Raccoon Gets Unlikely Rescue After Falling Into The Sea

A raccoon got an unlikely rescue after falling into the sea. Fortunately, the wet trash panda survived thanks to two bystanders who saw the animal in trouble.

Both Elizabeth Heffron and William DeLeo had been taking a stroll on the pier. That's when they saw the raccoon in the waters below. Somehow, it had fallen into the water from the pier. It was having a bad time of things, apparently. The animal struggled to stay afloat and try to get back to dry land. I completely get its pain. I'm not the best swimmer myself.

Heffron asked, "Do you think he's okay?" The two's amusement at the creature quickly turned to concern. It turns out that the raccoon wasn't just taking a swim. It was in trouble and would drown if the two didn't help it. With the raccoon trying to float itself away, the two quickly came to its aid. Using an orange traffic cone tied to a belt, DeLeo made a makeshift life float. He tossed it over the edge of the pier and attempted to get it to the stranded animal.

Raccoon Rescued

The raccoon wasn't going to pass up a lifeline. It quicky jumped at the rescue opportunity and grabbed onto the side of the cone.

"Hold on, buddy," DeLeo said. "

Slowly, slowly, " Heffron also said.

The two carefully pulled up the raccoon, who was holding on for dear life on the traffic cone. Unfortunately, the animal lost its grip and fell back into the sea just as it was reaching safety. But DeLeo tried again to save the animal. He tossed the traffic cone back into the water and tried to fish the animal out of the sea.

Fortunately, it worked this time. The raccoon made it to the railing of the pier. The animal was clearing scared. One person observed, "The way he kept holding onto the cone at the end to make sure he was safe."
