Woman Surprised To Find Future Husband In Background Of Old Travel Video

If you don't believe in fate, then maybe this story will change your mind. A woman was surprised to find her future husband in the background of an old travel video.

Athanasia Arkalis went to Europe 11 years ago. While there, she filmed a video. That video captured her husband in the background. But they didn't know each other then.

"When I watched that 2014 video with my boyfriend at the time, I didn't know I was about to see the man I'd eventually marry standing right there in the frame," Arkalis told People.

It was only years later after she and her husband watched the old travel video did they realize they were mere feet away. The two had visited Greece at the same time and used to joke about being on the same flight. A travel video filmed in the airport confirmed that fact.

"On August 31, 2014, I made this video leaving my 3-month Europe trip, not knowing that 11 years later on the same day, I will marry the Greek stranger in the back of my video," she wrote on TikTok. "I was just a young girl, determined to see the world, with no real goals or ambitions other than wanting to travel."

The two wouldn't meet until several years later.

"I met a guy on that 2014 trip in my Grandpa's hometown, and when he moved to Melbourne in 2015, we hung out because he didn't know anyone," she explained. At the time, she was in a relationship. However, after her relationship ended, her friendship blossomed into something more. "As soon as it was over, I had this immediate pull towards Andreas. It was like I knew he was the one."

Her husband was freaked out to discover the travel video.

"He was honestly freaked out and had goosebumps," Arkalis recalled. "I feel like this is a story you see in a movie, and with dating apps being the way people meet now, it almost doesn't feel real."

So is fate real?

"I personally feel like everyone's destiny is written, and this happening to me cemented that," she said. "I didn't actually know what invisible string theory meant until I heard the term on TikTok, and I was like, this is what happened to us."
