Grandfather And His Dog Shot Dead After Altercation With Fellow Pet Owner At Georgia Park

A grandfather and his dog are dead after an altercation with a fellow pet owner at a Georgia park. The two were allegedly shot dead.

The incident happened on December 21. Terry Loden and his wife, Cheryle Loden, had decided to walk their dogs at Simpson Park. They came across a fellow pet owner walking his dog. According to Atlanta News First, the pet owner shot and killed Terry and the couple's dog.

Terry's dog had allegedly gotten in a fight with the man's pooch. Terry had been trying to pull his dog away when the pet owner shot and killed the canine.

"Man, what are you doing?" the grandfather asked him. The pet owner then opened fire on Terry. After her husband was shot, Cheryle said the shooter mocked her. Cheryle told Atlanta News First, "When he fell, I just said, 'I gotta call 911. I gotta call 911.' And [the shooter] just said, 'Yeah, you do that.'"

Grandfather Killed

The shooter paced around the park before leaving. Police later arrested the alleged killer, identifying him as Todd Alexander Stalcup. According to police, the shooter and victim "were walking their dogs in the park when the dogs began fighting."

Police arrested Stalcup just 15 minutes after the shooting. They caught him as he was trying to leave the park. Authorities have charged him with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
They're holding him without bond in the Hall County Jail.

The grandfather died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center from his injuries. Despite first responders trying to save his life, there was nothing they could do.

Cheryle is reflecting on the grandfather and his life after his tragic death.

"He was awesome. He'd give his last penny and do anything for anybody. He was an awesome person," Cheryle said of her husband.
